OK, so I was really feeling crapola yesterday (I’m so glad my mom never reads my blog, she would HATE to hear me say that) and I felt my post was pretty crapola as well so I wanted to make it up to you.
Have you ever thought, “Wow, I wish I was in Hawaii today”? I think that pretty much everyday from December 31 to March 31, sometimes even 10-12 times a day.
Well, now you can be in Hawaii with just one click. Introducing my Hawaiian Vintage Postcard action. The shot below is what it looked like before.

So if you want to make it on your own, follow along with me. Two things to remember actions don’t generally work well on images shot with flash and this action does have a texture as well so you will want to run this on a larger image if possible or use the opacity to bring down the texture if desired.
1. Layer>Duplicate Layer
2. Duplicate Layer (copy background 1 more time)
3. Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Brightness/Contrast +25 Brightness +20 Contrast
4. Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Hue/Saturation Hue 31 Saturation 25 Colorize box at bottom is clicked on.
5. On top Duplicate Layer>Filter>Distort>Lens Correction>Vignette>-100
6. Filter>Artistic>Film Grain> Grain 3, Highlight Area 2, Intensity 1
7. Filter>Texture>Craquelure> Crack Spacing 3, Crack Depth 1, Crack Brightness 10
8. On top duplicate in the layers palette adjust layer opacity to 50%
Here’s the link for the FREE action here. It’s also the link to my store, so if you like your action, you know where to get more. If you’ve never used actions but would like to, I have directions on how to install them. Actions are 1 step recipes that transform your photos that you can download to use in Adobe Elements or Photoshop. Let me warn you, it’s somewhat of a pain in the wazoo to install them the first time if you have Elements. On behalf of Adobe, I would like to apologize. Actually, I believe Adobe doesn’t even really care. They are perfectly content to think that if you want to use actions, you have to have the full CS program. That is not true. If you don’t know what the hell I’m talking about just know this ACTION=EASY (YOU CAN DO ACTIONS IN ELEMENTS TOO). If you don’t know what version of Photoshop you have, I’m gonna bet 10 to 1 you have Elements, which is all you need here. Good luck! I’m generally here Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
